Liam Neeson werd geboren op 7 juni 1952 in Noord-Ierland. Hij begon met boksen toen hij negen was en werd uiteindelijk amateur senior kampieoen. Toen hij de hoofdrol in een toneelstuk op school kreeg begon hij met acteren. Hij vond het leuk en ging er mee door. Toch ging hij uiteindelijk naar Queen’s University Belfast om natuurkunde en informatica te studeren. Hij stopte echter met studeren en werkte voor en brouwerij van Guinness.
In 1976 ging hij bij het theater and speelde zijn eerste filmrol in 1977 (Pilgrim’s Progress). Hij verhuisde in 1987 naar Hollywood waar hij een rol had in Suspect. Z’n eerste hoofdrol was in de film Darkman en sindsdien heeft hij veel succes gehad met z’n rollen in films als Schindler’s List, The Phantom Menace, Taken en de Batman films.
